‘But we don’t have to use special words or complicated formulae if they don’t come naturally to us – God just wants to hear from us – whether we are glad, sad or mad’ - Matthew 6. 9-13
Prayer is at the centre of all that we do at St Mary’s. We believe that all we accomplish comes about not because of us but because of God.
Prayer transforms us; it enables us to become more the people God created us to be, and so draws us to share in God’s creative and compassionate work in the world.
We believe that we are called to be persistent in prayer, both for ourselves, those in need, our community and the world. We value and participate in different styles of prayer, either by ourselves at home, or together in special prayer meetings, home groups and at all of our services. There are regular times when we gather as a church to pray. Please see these on the right –>
Wednesdays | 9.15am | The South Porch, St Mary’s Church
This is a short, informal prayer meeting where we meet to pray for the life of the church, those in need and the world.
Saturday Early Morning Prayers
Saturdays | 8.30am to 9.15am | The Vicarage, Bures
An informal early morning prayer time, where all are welcome to gather and pray for the needs of the church, our community and the world. We also pray for our Sunday services and those who will be leading us in worship.
Every Other Month
Joint Prayer Meeting with the Baptist Church
Every other first Wednesday | 7.30pm to 8.30pm | Alternate churches
This is a wonderful meeting where both church communities gather as a whole to pray for our community. Refreshments available from 7.00pm. See our calendar for details.
During all of our Sunday services, there are opportunities to receive prayer ministry or request prayers for any situation or person. Members of the prayer ministry team can be identified by their ‘praying hands’ badges. Prayer ministry takes place in the South Porch.
Can we pray for you? Feel free to share your needs with our prayer team.
This prayer request form will be sent to a small group of individuals from St. Mary’s who have committed to pray for those who request prayer. Please feel free to share as much or as little as you feel able. If your request is for a friend or family member, you should ensure that you have permission to share any details of a confidential nature.
‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’ - Philippians 4:6-7
